Synopsis: Seasoned musician Jackson Maine discovers — and falls in love with — struggling artist Ally. She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer until Jackson coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jackson fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.

My Thoughts & Recommendation: Wow, what a movie! The music is incredible and the casting was impeccable! I didn’t even know that Bradley Cooper directed it until the end credits. He did such a great job on this movie, not only as an actor, but in his directorial debut. He plays his character so well that you forget it’s Cooper playing a role. The story and depth of the characters sucks you into the story and you can’t help but be emotionally invested in these characters. And Lady Gaga… we knew she could sing, but boy can she act as well. (Side note: loved the brown hair in the film. Hated the red. Yikes!) You really feel for her character, Ally, when things start to spiral. And did I forget to mention Bradley Cooper’s singing?! I had no idea he could sing! I will say that I expected his singing voice to be lower and grittier based on his character, Jackson’s, voice, but it was still nice. And although the movie was quite a rollercoaster with it’s highs and lows, it was told in such a beautiful way. You really got to see how the life of stardom can effect and change someone and how easy it is to find yourself straying from the path you originally intended. We see the love and we see the heartbreak. The stage presence and the behind-the-scenes. It, truly, was such a gripping love story, I almost cried at the end. Go see it. If you like Bradley Cooper or Lady Gaga, you’re going to love it. One small warning, it can get a little sad and very real at times, but it is well worth it.

My Rating: 4.5/5
